Faber Castell Vs Derwent
I ve had mixed reviews about each and i m really stuck as to what to get.
Faber castell vs derwent. Given my local art shop i have to choose between derwent faber castell and koh i noor. Derwent v faber castell. Derwent s procolour may prove to be a contender but it s too early to say. This makes it a softer set that s better for darker drawings.
The waxiness tends to annoy me from time to time. I use prismacolor premier coloured pencils. The 12 pencil brands included in this exercise are caran dache luminance derwent coloursoft van gogh derwent lightfast faber castell polychromos derwent procolour berol karisma prismacolor premier prismacolor verithin derwent drawing lyra rembrandt polycolor and a non branded range. The only reason why i m making the review comparison of derwent pencils is because these are the pencils i have.
In europe i can t seem to get prismacolours. I also like faber castell for example and i would love to try prismacolor but for now i can t afford a nice set of faber castell and the prismacolors are really hard to find in europe. Faber castell also offers a set with ranges from 5b to 5h in case you re looking. The watercolor professional line by faber castell has been reviewed on this blog already.
Right now i m using a much cheaper set of spectrum noir s. Of those two which is the least waxy and the easiest to blend. Some people have said the derwent pastel pencils are thicker than normally pencils and therefore can only be sharpened with a knife. It has the same color chart of their permanent equivalent polychromos also reviewed here i could not leave them out of this comparison after all it is a traditional and recognized brand as well as being one of the few to which we have easy access here brazil.

Faber castell makes polychromos and derwent makes coloursoft. The choice here is between faber castell polychromos and caran d ache pablo. Ok so i really want to get into dry soft pastels as well as graphite and charcoal.
